The Email Marketing Specialist, CRM & Automation is responsible for building, deploying, and optimizing customer marketing campaigns across email, SMS, and automated customer journeys. This role plays a key part in executing lifecycle marketing programs within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, helping deliver relevant and engaging communications that drive customer engagement and business results.

This is a hybrid position requiring weekly work in-office at our Livonia, MI headquarters we call Pet Central.

Responsibilities/Qualifications

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building email campaigns, customer journeys, and audience segments within Salesforce Marketing Cloud and enjoys partnering with creative, analytics, and business teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

The Email Marketing Specialist will do:

Campaign Execution & Automation

• Build, test, launch, and optimize email and SMS campaigns in SFMC and Attentive.
• Manage campaigns from intake through review, QA, scheduling, and launch.
• Create scalable email templates, audience frameworks, and automations.
• Build and maintain customer journeys, triggers, and lifecycle programs.
• Support technical campaign builds and advanced personalization.

Data & Audience Management

• Build audience segments for targeted, personalized campaigns.
• Use SQL for audience creation, reporting, and campaign execution.
• Maintain accurate campaign data and resolve audience issues.
• Troubleshoot data, segmentation, and automation issues.

Optimization & Analytics

• Track campaign performance and recommend improvements.
• Analyze engagement data to improve targeting and personalization.
• Stay current on CRM, email, and automation best practices.

Quality & Compliance

• QA campaigns, journeys, dynamic content, and audiences.
• Ensure brand, privacy, email, and CAN-SPAM compliance.
• Test rendering and deliverability across devices and email clients.

Collaboration & Vendor Management

• Partner across teams to deliver connected customer experiences.
• Work with vendors to execute campaigns and implement technology.
• Document processes and standards to support team growth.

PAWsome Email Marketing Specialist Candidates Will Have

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in email marketing, CRM marketing, or marketing automation.
• Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) required
• Experience building and deploying email campaigns and customer journeys within SFMC.
• Working knowledge of SQL, AMPscript, HTML, and audience segmentation.
• Understanding of customer data management, data integrations, and marketing technology ecosystems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
• Experience troubleshooting technical marketing issues and developing scalable solutions.
• Knowledge of email deliverability, rendering best practices, and CAN-SPAM compliance.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
