Assistant Mechanical Engineer- Aviation %26 Federal

The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of HVAC and plumbing projects primarily for aviation, government, and military facilities. The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting HVAC and plumbing plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

• Assist in the HVAC and plumbing design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, covering various HVAC and plumbing systems: air-side/duct design, chilled and condenser water, heating hot water, steam, HVAC controls, domestic water, sanitary waste and vent and compressed gases.
• Assist in HVAC load calculation and energy modeling calculations and life cycle cost analyses (LCCA) with IESVE or similar software (Trane Trace, Energy Pro, etc).
• Utilizes computer programming (python, Excel VBA/macros) to further develop and contribute to design process efficiencies.
• Assist in the development of production drawings for a variety of projects primarily focusing on aviation, government, and military facilities but also including power plants, industrial, life science, and commercial facilities.
• Assists in the application of and develops a strong knowledge of federal design guidelines: Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS).
• Assists in the application of and develops a strong knowledge of commonly used HVAC and plumbing engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the HVAC and plumbing engineering services industry: ASHRAE, ASPE, Title 24, IMC, and the IPC.
• Assists in the design of HVAC and plumbing components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
• Assist in the development of design documents in CAD software (Revit and AutoCAD).
• Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers.
• Assists in the compilation of information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for design projects.
• Assists in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
