Mechanical Engineer - Power (Honolulu)

Burns & McDonnell's Power global practice is seeking to hire an experienced Mechanical Engineer in our Honolulu office. The Power Division focuses on the design and construction of power generation facilities, including fossil, hydrogen, solar, nuclear and energy storage.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of power projects. The Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

• Performs mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modifies and reviews production drawings for a variety of power projects.
• Designs mechanical systems and selects components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
• Prepare mechanical equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings; data interface with suppliers, clients other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
• Applies strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.  
• Researches and compiles project-related data as required by the project managers.
• Quality reviews and updates production drawings for a variety of projects and project-related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
• Quality reviews the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of mechanical systems.
• Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power generating facilities.
• Communicates with other disciplines (electrical, structural, civil) engineers for efficient project coordination.
• Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
