The Department of Communication at Tulane University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Digital Media/Technologies, beginning July 1, 2027. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching examine digital media and technologies from the perspective of media and communication studies. Areas of specialization may include data infrastructures, streaming media, digital distribution, mobile media, platform media, or digital production cultures. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work bridges or are conversant with both scholarship on digital media technologies and the practice or production of digital media.

We welcome a range of methodological approaches, including historical, ethnographic, archival, textual, industrial, practice-based, or transnational ones. The ideal candidate will contribute to the department’s undergraduate curriculum and help shape a growing area of strength at the intersection of critical media scholarship, communication, digital technologies, and media practice/production.

The successful candidate will teach four undergraduate courses annually in the department's core curriculum and develop new elective offerings in their area of specialization. Teaching responsibilities may include courses that combine critical analysis with applied components as well as mentor students engaged in related research or creative projects.
