GENERAL SUMMARY
AI is transforming legal work and related business functions in real time. In this role, you will help build this transformation.
As an integral member of Paul, AI and Knowledge department, you will operate at the intersection of legal practice and technical fluency. Drawing on your experience as a practicing attorney, you will translate the firm's legal expertise into practical AI tools and workflows. You will break down complex workflows into clear, executable inputs, building prompts, processes, and lightweight automations.
This is a hands-on, technically fluent role with significant ownership and oversight. You will identify high-value pain points, prototype and ship workflows, and help ensure that they are reliable, practical, and ready for firm use. You will also support firmwide AI adoption through guidance, training, and hands-on enablement.
Success in this role means that anyone at the firm can readily determine whether AI could support a particular workflow, and that you have the technical skill to collaboratively turn that answer into action. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, legally minded, and eager to solve complex problems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Partner directly with attorneys and business professionals across practice groups and departments to surface high-value, function-specific pain points, translating them into concrete AI-enabled workflows.
● Design, build, and iterate on advanced prompts, prompt libraries, and multi-step agentic workflows. Progress ideas into reliable, repeatable tools.
● Evaluate and test workflows for quality, accuracy, and reliability. Build in human review checkpoints and guardrails appropriate to legal work, professional responsibility obligations, and business and administrative work.
● Serve as a hands-on resource and trusted advisor to attorneys and business professionals through one-on-one coaching, workshops, and office hours, supporting AI tool use and workflow development.
● Develop training curricula, playbooks, and reference materials that enhance AI fluency firmwide. Translate technical AI concepts into practical guidance for non-technical audiences.
● Maintain and refine deployed workflows. Update prompts, sources, and guardrails as models, platforms, and firm needs evolve.
● In collaboration with colleagues in Practice and Client Solutions, track adoption, usage, and impact metrics for deployed workflows and training programs firmwide. Use those insights to prioritize ongoing development and enablement needs.
● Stay current on the legal AI vendor and tooling landscape. Evaluate new tools and techniques for relevance to both legal and business functions.
● Collaborate closely with K&I, Information Systems, Information Security, and Professional Development to ensure workflows and training are aligned, secure, and well-supported.
● Serve as a key liaison to Information Systems in testing and integrating AI tools with the firm systems they manage, working within their processes and standards.
