General Sales Manager(Automotive)

Description

We are currently looking for a general sales manager for our growing dealerships in Youngstown, Ohio.

A car dealership general manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership's operations, including sales, service, and parts departments, to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.

This role involves setting sales goals, managing budgets, supervising department managers, creating marketing strategies, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Overseeing operations: Manage and coordinate sales, service, and parts departments to ensure they run smoothly and meet performance goals.
• Financial management: Create and manage budgets and analyze profit and loss statements to maintain the dealership's financial health.
• Team leadership: Hire, train, and supervise department managers and staff. Provide feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
• Sales and marketing: Set sales objectives, develop marketing campaigns, and establish sales processes.
• Customer relations: Handle customer complaints and work to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Compliance: Ensure the dealership operates in compliance with manufacturer’s standards and all local laws and regulations.
• Inventory management: Collaborate with department managers to maintain appropriate levels of new and used vehicle inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Sales Leadership: Direct and oversee all sales operations, including new and pre-owned vehicles.
• Team Management: Recruit, train, and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed performance targets.
• Performance Monitoring: Track sales metrics, analyze trends, and implement strategies to improve results.
• Customer Experience: Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and resolve escalated issues promptly.
• Inventory Management: Collaborate with the General Manager and inventory team to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to all dealership policies, manufacturer guidelines, and legal requirements.
• Marketing & Promotions: Work with the marketing team to develop campaigns that drive traffic and sales.
• Financial Oversight: Assist in setting pricing strategies, managing gross margins, and achieving profitability goals.

Requirements

• Proven experience in automotive sales management of +3 years, preferably as a GSM or similar sales manager leadership role in a dealership is required!
• Strong understanding of dealership sales operations and processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
• Proficiency in dealership management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
