Program Director, Wound Care (with Hyperbaric Backup)

Wound Care Advantage is hiring a Program Director to lead the wound care program at Centerpoint Health Wound Care – Winchester. In this role, you'll own the day-to-day operation, financial performance, and strategic growth of the wound center, working with a high degree of autonomy. You'll partner closely with physicians, the Clinical Coordinator, the HBO Technician, and the wound center staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care for patients with wounds, while building strong relationships with hospital leadership and referring physicians. This role also serves as backup for the center's hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) operations when the primary HBO Technician is unavailable, so you'll need a medical credential and will become a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) within your first six months, fully funded by WCA.

What You Will Do

Operational Oversight

• Manage all aspects of the wound program on a daily basis
• Analyze data and processes to keep the center running efficiently and performing well
• Monitor clinic flow and productivity alongside the Clinical Coordinator
• Develop departmental plans, goals, and objectives in line with hospital and WCA policies
• Coordinate appropriate wound service coverage with physicians and the Clinical Coordinator

Hyperbaric Backup

• Cover hyperbaric oxygen therapy operations when the primary HBO Technician is unavailable
• Take responsibility for patients during hyperbaric treatment and ensure safe decompression for anyone with a hyperbaric exposure
• Keep the unit compliant with The Joint Commission, NFPA 99, PVHO-1, UHMS, NBDHMT, and other applicable safety standards
• Check chamber equipment and supplies against safety requirements before use, and follow preventative maintenance schedules
• Take part in emergency chamber drills, and work with the Medical Director and Clinical Coordinator to review and document safety events

Revenue Cycle Management

• Help develop the program budget and manage it to maximize profitability, addressing variances as needed
• Oversee the full revenue cycle, including scheduling, registration, clinical coverage, documentation, billing, collections, and denials
• Monitor and analyze financial reports and prepare performance reports for hospital C-suite leadership
• Work with auditing and clinical teams to make sure documentation supports reimbursement
• Stay current on LCD and CMS reimbursement changes and educate staff and physicians accordingly

Relationships

• Integrate into the hospital organization and build relationships with administration and key departments
• Meet regularly with hospital leaders on program performance
• Take part in hospital meetings and activities to encourage collaboration across departments
• Build strong working relationships with physicians and wound center staff

Leadership

• Recruit, hire, train, and manage wound center staff in partnership with WCA and the hospital's HR department
• Hold regular meetings with physicians and staff, and give consistent, timely feedback
• Prepare and deliver performance evaluations following WCA and hospital processes
• Monitor patient and referring physician satisfaction and solve problems as they come up
• Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies, and monitor operations for patient safety

Community Education

• Develop and carry out a center-specific Community Education plan using WCA and hospital resources
• Build and maintain relationships with key referral sources
• Track and report Community Education activity and stay on top of market trends
• Engage the Medical Director and panel physicians as program advocates in community outreach
• Spend agreed-upon time in the field carrying out the Community Education plan

Qualifications

Required

• Active certification or license as an EMT, MA, CNA, LVN, RT, or equivalent medical credential, kept in good standing
• Current CPR certification
• Completion of a UHMS-approved Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine course — to be completed upon hire; cost covered by WCA
• Willingness to earn Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification within six months of hire, or after 480 hours of chamber work, whichever comes first. WCA covers the full cost.
• Ability to perform patient transfers when serving as HBO backup, including single-person wheelchair-to-exam-table lifts and two-person wheelchair or gurney transfers

Preferred

• Current CHT certification
• Bachelor's degree, ideally in business administration or a health-related field
• 3–5 years of healthcare management experience
• Employee management experience
• Knowledge of wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and wound-related products and procedures
• Familiarity with NFPA-99, NFPA-55, PVHO, CGA, US Navy Dive Tables, NBDHMT, and UHMS standards
• Basic chamber maintenance and operations experience
• Marketing or sales experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Compensation

• $90,000 – $115,000 per year, based on experience
• Full-time, onsite at Centerpoint Health (Clark Medical)
