Outside Sales Representative

Overview

From a small family retail operation in Houston, our business has expanded across the US and S. America to sell over 1 million tons per year. We supply steel for bridges, stadiums, barges and large buildings but one thing will always remain the same: We treat our customers and employees like family.

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Outside Sales Representative to join our team. This role focuses on building relationships with new and existing customers, understanding customer needs, and driving sales within the steel and fabrication industry. The position requires expertise in selling products such as beams, tubing, plate processing, sheets, decking, and value-added fabrication services, while maintaining a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and market growth.

Compensation $65K to $85K + commission

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and expanding customer database.
• Attending sales group meetings.
• Capturing accurate and complete information in customer relationship management.
• Assisting our Inside Sales Team in quoting and handling order execution from acceptance to completion.
• Communicating with customers regarding current relative market information and capturing relative feedback.
• Obtain and provide feedback on Competitor pricing/equipment to Management.
• Establish creditable relationships with new customers and maintain ongoing relationships with existing customer base.
• Attend face to face meetings with clients on a daily basis. This is pertinent to the job.
• Manage a database of potential customers and contact them on a regular basis for new opportunities.
• Team with Inside Sales Rep to build a pipeline of opportunities and close sales.
• Make Outbound Sales calls to prospect new customers.
• Note suggestions or complaints and communicate to the Quality/Operations group.
• Utilize CRM Software to keep track of important customer ‘touches.
• Support the Quality System of the Company.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University.
• Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient level of computer skills in typing, number key, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Problem solving and creative thinking.
• Ability to visit customers in person daily.
