Low Voltage Technology Engineer - MEP

Overview

Kimley- Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Sr. Low Voltage Technology Design Leader to expand our MEP practice in Orange, CA and throughout Southern California!

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute designs for Technology systems (Telecommunication rooms, structured Cabling systems, and Pathways infrastructure); Nurse Call, Infant Protection, Electronic Safety and Security Systems (Video Surveillance and Access Control); and Audiovisual Systems.

• Develop and evaluate low voltage system Technology System concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope.

•  Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards, and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of low voltage and telecommunications systems.

• Develop detailed design drawings, develop design narratives and CSI specifications for bidding and construction.

• Actively interface and coordinate with external clients, architects, consultants, and construction partners.

• Perform construction administration services.

• Assist team in achieving project budget and management of resources.

• Provide mentorship for other engineers and designers within the organization.

Qualifications

• Associates in Applied Science in Engineering Technology or similar education. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in design and consulting for low voltage and/or electrical systems.
• Candidate with RCDD certification or similar industry certification is preferred.
• Candidates with a PE license or ability to obtain a PE license will be considered a plus.
• Experience in architectural and engineering work.
• Working experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office Products.
• Ability to self-manage throughout the project and work as part of a team.
• Proven communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Active participation in industry organizations.

Base Salary Range:

• $170,000 - $220,000
• Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation
