THE OPPORTUNITY

Behind every cable ACT Entertainment sends into the field is a process built on precision, and it starts with you. As an Extrusion Operator at our Leominster, MA facility, you'll set up, run, and fine-tune the machines that shape thermoplastic over the cabled core — keeping a close eye on quality, speed, and safety with every run. It's hands-on, detail-driven work where your focus directly shapes the product that goes out the door.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Perform routine maintenance on the extrusion machine — cleaning and lubricating to keep equipment running strong and lasting longer.
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and ready to go.
• Set up the extrusion machine to run each item to the exact specifications on the shop paperwork.
• Check your setup once the machine is running to confirm everything is dialed in.
• Monitor the extrusion process closely, making real-time adjustments to maintain product quality and output efficiency.
• Conduct quality and settings checks at the start of shift and regularly throughout the day.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues to keep downtime to a minimum.
• Flag issues to your supervisor right away, especially when items fall short of quality standards.
• Maintain accurate production records — product counts, machine settings, and maintenance activity — to track productivity and spot opportunities to improve.
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to keep the work environment safe for everyone.
• Take part in training on the machine, printer, and paperwork processes.
• Pitch in on other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

TEAM STRUCTURE

This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities — it's an opportunity to build strong technical skills on the production floor.

WHAT YOU BRING

• A high school diploma or GED, plus 1-3 months of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Prior hands-on or on-the-job experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting instincts.
• Comfort working as part of a team, as well as tackling independent projects.
• Good communication skills and patience.
• Flexibility to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Occasionally handles printer ink and solvent while wearing protective gear.
• Frequently stands and walks throughout the shift.
• Frequently touches hot items using protective gear.
• Frequently submerges hands in water.
• Continually works near moving mechanical parts and an extruder that heats up to 400 degrees.
• Works in an environment where the noise level is usually loud.
• Lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
• Uses close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Works with specialized equipment, including diameter tape, micrometer, vernier, large cutter, and pick glass.

COMPANY VALUES:

• Deliver Legendary Service:  It’s all about the experience. With every experience, do the little things, as well as the big things, that surprise people. Make every interaction stand out for its helpfulness. Create the “WOW” factor that turns customers into raving fans. This includes both internal and external customers.
• Do the Right Thing, Always:  Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing in every action you take and in every decision you make, especially when no one’s looking. Always tell the truth, no matter the consequences. If you make a mistake, own up to it, apologize, and make it right.
• Practice Blameless Problem-Solving:  Demonstrate a relentless solution focus, rather than pointing fingers or dwelling on problems. Identify lessons learned and use those lessons to improve ourselves and our processes so we don’t make the same mistake twice. Get smarter with every mistake. Learn from every experience.
• Contribute to Profit:  We’re in business to deliver value for our customers while making money. We all play a role in building revenue that exceeds our expenses. Look for ways to increase our sales, develop new customers, and control our expenses.
• Honor Commitments:  Do what you say you’re going to do, when you say you’re going to do it. This includes being on time for all phone calls, appointments, and meetings. If a commitment can’t be fulfilled, notify others early and agree on a new deliverable to be honored.
• Embrace Change and Growth:  What got us here is not the same as what will get us to the next level. Get outside your comfort zone, rather than stubbornly hanging on to old ways of doing things. Be excited by the possibilities that change, and growth bring. Be flexible.
• Be Positive:  You have the power to choose your attitude. Choose to be joyful, optimistic, and enthusiastic. See the good in others. Your attitude is contagious. Spread optimism and positive energy.
• Keep Things Fun:  While our passion for excellence is real, remember that the world has bigger problems than the daily challenges that make up our work. Stuff happens. Keep perspective. Don’t take things personally or take yourself too seriously. Laugh every day.
