What You'll Do

As a Cook, you will:

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements
• Plan menus and establish supply lists to support meal preparation
• Prepare nutritious meals for approximately 18 adult men in a long-term residential setting
• Ensure recipes and food portions meet program standards and nutritional requirements
• Maintain accurate food production, inventory, and temperature records
• Order, receive, and inventory food and kitchen supplies as assigned
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures
• Maintain compliance with state and local health and safety regulations
• Keep kitchen and food storage areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready
• Train and direct assigned kitchen workers or participants as needed
• Support positive relationships with program participants and staff
• Utilize appropriate crisis intervention techniques when necessary

Qualifications

Required

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to pass criminal background checks and pre-employment screenings
• Basic computer skills and ability to use workplace software applications
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

Preferred

• High School Diploma or GED
• Food Safety Certification
• At least 2-3 years of food service, culinary, institutional, healthcare, military, or residential food preparation experience
• Experience planning menus and managing food inventories
• Experience preparing meals for large groups
• Knowledge of state and local health code requirements

Schedule

• Part-Time
• Approximately 20 Hours Per Week
• Flexible schedule based on program needs
• May include weekends and holidays
• Additional hours may be available based on operational needs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull food, supplies, and equipment
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, walk, and climb stairs as needed
• Ability to work in kitchen environments with varying temperatures
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
