Position Overview:

The Energy Delivery Specialist is responsible for the safe, timely, and compliant delivery of refined fuels, propane, lubricants, and related energy products to agricultural, commercial, and residential customers. The Energy Delivery Specialist represents the cooperative in a professional manner, prioritizing safety, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Delivery Operations: Responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely transportation and delivery of refined fuels, propane, lubricants, and other energy products to agricultural, commercial, and residential customers throughout the cooperative’s service territory. This includes conducting pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tanker trucks and related equipment in compliance with FMCSA and DOT requirements. Verifies product type, quantity, and delivery location prior to transfer, ensuring proper placement and preventing cross-contamination. Operates pumping systems, meters, valves, and hoses to safely transfer product while continuously monitoring tank levels during delivery. Performs visual and mechanical leak checks on hoses, fittings, valves, meters, and connection points before, during, and after product transfer, immediately reporting irregularities, pressure loss, or suspected leaks in accordance with cooperative policy and regulatory requirements. Accurately completes and submits fuel delivery tickets, customer order tickets, billing documentation, and compliance records in a timely manner to support prompt and accurate customer billing. Maintains professional communication with the Energy Director, Energy Administrator, and customers, particularly during peak agricultural and seasonal demand periods. This position requires the ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to operational needs during evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Must be available to support customer service demands, emergency response situations, and time-sensitive operational requirements associated with energy delivery, installation, and safety-related service calls. 2. Installation & Service: Assists with and performs installation, setup, and service of bulk fuel tanks, propane tanks, pumps, meters, regulators, hoses, and dispensing systems at customer and cooperative sites. Responsibilities include coordinating tank placement, assembling and connecting equipment, ensuring proper grounding and bonding, and conducting pressure testing and leak checks prior to system activation. Performs routine service and preventative maintenance such as replacing worn hoses or fittings, tightening connections, and troubleshooting minor mechanical or meter irregularities. Supports environmental protection efforts through spill prevention practices, secondary containment awareness, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. (25%)

3. Compliance & Risk Management: Maintains safety-sensitive operational compliance with DOT, hazardous materials transportation regulations, and OSHA safety standards. Requires active CDL licensure with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements and participation in required drug and alcohol testing programs. Follows hours-of-service regulations, inspection requirements, and hazardous material documentation procedures. Reports accidents, spills, leaks, near misses, or environmental concerns immediately per cooperative policy. Participates in ongoing safety and job required trainings, uses required personal protective equipment, and supports a proactive safety culture by identifying hazards and recommending safety improvements. 4. Customer Service & Teamwork: Supports customer retention and cooperative growth by delivering reliable, professional, and responsive service to existing and prospective energy customers. This includes identifying business opportunities, supporting cooperative energy product promotion, and assisting with service expansion opportunities such as tank installations, equipment upgrades, or additional product offerings. Build and maintain positive customer relationships by monitoring tank usage patterns, communicating refill or service recommendations, and responding promptly to customer needs. Customer interactions must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, safety awareness, and accountability. Supports cooperative-wide operations by assisting other departments—such as grain, agronomy, and seed—during peak seasons, staffing shortages, or special projects as operationally needed. Contributes to operational improvement by sharing feedback and supporting workflow efficiency. (15%)
