THE OPPORTUNITY                                                                                                 (POSITION OVERVIEW)

The Interventionist Instructor is responsible for supporting learner outcomes for identified at promise learners. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to learners who are struggling to meet grade level content standards, develops materials and lesson plans, and evaluates and assesses learner performance. The interventionist will also meet with learners/families and educational Facilitators, interpret progress, and inform pertinent parties about learner strengths, weaknesses, and progress. The focus of the intervention specialist is to develop a learner-centered intervention system that effectively works to close the achievement gap. The goal of the intervention specialist is to ensure that learners are able to master grade level standards and curriculum.

WHAT YOU WILL DO                                                                          (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

• Support staff and perform duties as assigned and outlined by the directors.

• Respond to all emails and communication within 24 hours during the school week.

• Provides high-quality academic instruction to learners identified as eligible for academic services in individual or small groups.

• Provide instruction through an online platform effectively; provide in-person instruction/workshops, as needed.

• Gather, compile, and disaggregate data; link data to learning and instruction.

• Use data to provide differentiated instruction to learners and to bring their academic skills to grade level.

• Create lesson plans and resources for one-on-one instruction or small group instruction.

• Collaborate with educational facilitators, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of learners.

• Use identified research-based interventions that focus specifically on individual learner needs.

• Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of learner performance and progress.

• Provide data to school teams and participate in decisions about learner progress.

• Communicate with educational facilitators, administration, and families regarding learner progress.

• Participate in meetings with educational facilitators, administration, and families to discuss learner placement and progress.

• Provide diagnostic assessments for learners as needed.

• Provide input for program development.

• Create and maintain a schedule of academic intervention classes.

• Support the total school program by observing curricular and extracurricular learner activities.

• Follow up with learners who exit the interventionist program.

• Complete other duties as defined by the Director(s) of the program or other school leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Communicating with others to exchange information. 

• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

• Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

• When needed to support a school or education program, must have the ability to travel by public transit as well as operate a vehicle for self-transportation purposes between worksites.

• Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

• May encounter outdoor elements: high (>90)/low (<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.

• Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.

• Ability to supervise/manage workers and delegate as needed in project management situations.

• Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets. 

• Writing professionally, both by hand and utilizing computer software.

• Speaking in public settings, including making public presentations to large and small groups. 

• Dealing and navigating professionally through high-stress situations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING                                                                                              (QUALIFICATIONS)

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

• CA teaching credential and/or equivalent years of experience.

• Demonstrate proficiency in technology skills with the ability to learn and use online platforms,
  systems and software to support learning and record keeping.

• Previous experience with homeschool or independent study programs preferred.

• Demonstrate ability to perform tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

• Demonstrate standards of moral character and maintain a professional demeanor to serve as an
  effective role model for learners.

• Exercise mature judgment in working with confidential information.

• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

• Work independently, be a self starter, problem solve and multi-task.

• Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with all learners,
  families and staff.

• Exhibit an enthusiasm for learning and the belief that each learner can and will succeed.

• Understand, recommend and support a variety of learning styles, philosophies, and approaches to
  better support the homeschool endeavor.

• Willingness to be involved on teams and committees to support the school’s mission and vision.
