Fitness Center Attendant

Description

The YMCA of Broome County is hiring a part-time Fitness Center Attendant to support members at our Johnson City fitness center. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys fitness, helping others and creating a welcoming gym environment. You will assist members with fitness equipment, provide workout guidance, help maintain a safe and clean facility, and encourage members as they work toward their health and fitness goals.

Available Shifts

Monday 1:00 PM-5:00 PM
Thursday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
Saturday 12:00 PM-4:00 PM

What You'll Do

• Welcome members and create a friendly, positive fitness center experience.
• Engage, motivate and encourage members as they work toward their health and fitness goals.
• Provide basic workout guidance and help members use fitness equipment safely and correctly.
• Demonstrate proper form and technique and provide fitness equipment instruction.
• Monitor the fitness center and enforce YMCA safety policies and procedures.
• Help maintain a clean, organized and safe workout environment.
• Support daily fitness center operations and provide excellent customer service.
• Opportunities may be available to teach group exercise classes on land or in the pool.

Requirements

• Passion for fitness, wellness and helping people succeed.
• Strong knowledge of basic fitness principles, exercise technique and fitness equipment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with members of different ages and fitness levels.
• Dependable, friendly and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Previous experience in a gym, fitness center, wellness center or similar environment preferred.
