The Role:

The food manufacturing Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our production equipment and facility systems. This hands-on role performs routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and support continuous production of our frozen products.

What you will do:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems for manufacturing and packaging equipment.

• Perform daily inspections and preventive maintenance per established schedules.

• Quickly diagnose mechanical issues to reduce equipment downtime and maintain product quality.

• Collaborate with production teams to support machine set-ups, changeovers, and calibrations.

• Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to log work orders and equipment history.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with GMP, OSHA, and food safety standards.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives projects as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Technical certification or trade school preferred.

• 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or food production maintenance role.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to work with tools, machinery, and mechanical systems.

• Working knowledge of motors, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, compressors, and hydraulic systems.

• Basic electrical troubleshooting and knowledge of PLC-controlled systems a plus.

• Must be comfortable working around food-grade environments, with strict cleanliness and safety protocols.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Oregon Ice Cream contains office, manufacturing and outdoor workspaces where this position is required to access and work. The position requires a person to be able to frequently walk, stand and climb; bend and twist; see, hear and talk; use hands to finger, handle or feel tool, controls or products; use hands and arms to reach, hold and carry tools or products. Frequently lifting/moving up to 50lbs is also required; occasional lifting/transferring of objects may be required with assistance up to 75 lbs. This positions also requires a person to handle environments of different temperatures and with various food allergens present. 

What you will bring:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in environment
• Excellent communication skills are required
• Must have demonstrated mechanical skills including gear boxes, bearings, chains, basic electrical and basis machining 
• Knowledge of PLC’s and how they function preferred
• Experience with case erectors, dairy industry, mixers, freezers preferred
• Experience with Ammonia safety and basic operations preferred
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently
• Ability to trouble-shoot, and to meet short- and long-term deadlines
• Maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining work areas in a sanitary manner
• Great people skills and be passionate about food and ice cream
