PERMANENT Position with potential to earn a GS position! 

Wisestaff is hiring Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN/LPN) for the Inpatient Pediatric Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, TX.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 1 year of inpatient pediatric nursing experience as an LVN/LPN within the last 3 years. Qualifying experience must be clearly documented on your resume.

SCHEDULES:

• FULL-TIME | 36 HOURS/WEEK: Three 12-hour shifts per week. Schedules are determined by BAMC facility leadership based on unit staffing and coverage needs. Every effort is made to group your shifts on consecutive days to support work-life balance, but the needs of the unit come first: schedulers keep the flexibility to space shifts or adjust days to cover critical staffing deficits, weekends, and holidays. Full availability is required, including rotating between day and night shifts every 3 months.
• PRN | TWO 12-HOUR SHIFTS/MONTH: PRN LVNs work exactly two 12-hour shifts per month, no more or fewer. Shifts are self-selected from available day or night shifts.

Important Start-Date Information

Because this position requires government security clearance, candidates should expect approximately 6 to 8 weeks after interview and approval to complete the clearance process and receive a start date.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. At least 1 year of inpatient pediatric nursing experience as an LVN/LPN within the last 3 years
2. Qualifying experience must be clearly documented on your resume
3. Knowledge of age-specific criteria for ages 1 day to adult (21+) years old for hematology/oncology patients
4. Knowledge of pediatric medication dosages, and willing to train as support personnel in the provision of chemotherapy
5. Must achieve at least 80% on the pediatric-specific pharmacology exam
6. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
7. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (PALS may be obtained after approval for hire)
8. Valid LVN/LPN license from any U.S. jurisdiction
9. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
10. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship
11. Must be able to pass a background check for government clearance
