Education Liaison

About Young Community Developers

Established in 1973, YCD is a nonprofit organization who serves residents of all ages living in the most historically underserved communities of San Francisco. YCD takes a holistic approach via a delivery eco-system of services designed to empower residents in achieving economic mobility, in turn building and sustaining a positive community by providing them with education opportunities, workforce development training, and social services. YCD's philosophy is that every individual should have the right to sustainable and generational economic mobility, aiming to break the cycle of poverty. Each year YCD provides around 1,200 community members with employment and training services through their programs and partnerships. YCD is also proud to share that they have been voted by Non-Profit Times as one of the top 50 best non-profits to work for in the United States!

Project Overview

100% College Prep Institute (100%) is a college preparatory organization for all school aged youth. 100% seeks to provide underserved students with academic and leadership skills, along with support that prepares them to enter and complete post-secondary educational opportunities. This project delivers on-site resident services to the Alice Griffith community, focusing on resident engagement, community building, and connection to support services, with an emphasis on families with elementary and middle school-aged children. The program takes a holistic approach to supporting educational success through outreach, community events, collaboration with local partners, and consistent presence at community meetings. Services funded by this grant are open to all San Franciscans regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin who otherwise meet the criteria.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Education Liaison serves as a trusted, on-site resource connecting families in the Alice Griffith and Bret Harte communities to educational information, referrals, and support services. This role provides two core types of Enhanced Information & Referral services: neighborhood-based educational referrals for families in attendance-affected or at-risk households, and school-site based referrals for youth in neighborhoods historically marked by trauma, mistrust, and isolation. The Education Liaison meets young people and their parents/caregivers where they are, building consistent, trusted relationships that promote school attendance, family engagement, and long-term academic success.
