Sacred Heart University’s Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for Adjunct Instructors committed to engaging students in the study of life, from molecular and cellular processes to human health, organisms, and ecosystems. Across the classroom, laboratory, and field, instructors create hands-on learning experiences where students design experiments, analyze evidence, communicate scientific findings, and apply biological principles to meaningful questions.
Teaching opportunities span lectures and laboratories for science majors and non-majors in foundational biology, anatomy and physiology, ecology, genetics, microbiology, neuroscience, and coastal and marine science. The breadth of the curriculum offers opportunities to teach within areas of specialization while supporting programs in Biology, Biomedical Science, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Coastal & Marine Science, and Neuroscience. Potential assignments are reflected in the current Biology course descriptions.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Biology or a closely related field required
- Terminal degree and prior college-level teaching experience preferred
- Commitment to fostering a collegial and supportive learning environment that reflects the University’s mission and values
