ASSISTANT MANAGER - CORPORATE TAX

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position reports to the Tax Director and is responsible for assisting Tax Manager with the review of compliance workbooks, following up on the progress of tasks and projects, and tracking all applicable due dates. Additional assigned responsibilities include, but are not limited to,  researching U.S. tax regulations, performing tax analysis, and supporting tax audits.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  1. TAX COMPLIANCE: Own the accuracy and timeliness of the group’s federal and state income, franchise, and excise tax filings and annual reports — guiding and reviewing staff- prepared returns and workpapers, tracking all applicable due dates, and serving as the primary liaison with taxing authorities, including coordinating and defending tax audits.
  2. PLANNING AND STRATEGY: Provide tax analysis of business transactions and structures, evaluating alternatives as directed by management. Monitor domestic and foreign legislative, ruling, and regulatory changes, assess their impact on the Company, and recommend and implement responsive actions to manage existing positions and capture new
    opportunities.
  3. FINANCIAL REPORTING: Ensure the proper accounting and external financial reporting of income taxes — including the annual tax provision, true-ups, account reconciliations, and related disclosures — in accordance with applicable standards (ASC 740, formerly FAS 109 / FIN 48).
  4. COLLABORATION: Serve as a tax resource and advisor to other departments and business divisions, communicating tax issues, impacts, and requirements clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
  5. IMPROVEMENT: Own the efficiency and accuracy of the tax preparation workflow — strengthening workbooks, controls, and documentation — while promoting administrative efficiency and operational flexibility.
  6. STAFF MANAGEMENT: Supervise and develop assigned tax professionals — assigning and reviewing their work, coaching each individual toward their fullest potential, and fostering a collaborative, cross-functional team that consistently meets quality standards and deadlines.
