Strategic Leadership & Community Impact

• Lead the strategic direction and execution of organizational priorities for Plains Regional Medical Center and Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital.
• Ensure alignment between local hospital strategies and Presbyterian Healthcare Services enterprise objectives.
• Identify opportunities to expand access, enhance services, and strengthen Presbyterian's presence throughout Eastern New Mexico.
• Serve as a visible community ambassador and advocate for healthcare access and health improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, government officials, educational institutions, and business stakeholders.

Operational & Financial Stewardship

• Maintain accountability for hospital operations, financial performance, and resource management.
• Drive operational excellence through effective utilization of labor, supply chain, capital resources, and productivity initiatives.
• Ensure financial performance aligns with organizational targets while supporting investments in growth and quality.
• Lead capital planning efforts and prioritize investments that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
• Monitor performance indicators and implement corrective actions to improve operational outcomes.

Clinical Quality & Patient Safety

• Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across both facilities.
• Drive progress toward high reliability principles and zero-harm goals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Monitor quality outcomes and patient safety metrics while implementing strategies to improve performance.
• Partner with physician and clinical leaders to advance evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes.

Physician & Workforce Engagement

• Foster strong relationships with employed and independent physicians throughout the service area.
• Support physician recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies to maintain essential clinical services.
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and professional development.
• Build employee engagement and strengthen Presbyterian's reputation as an employer of choice.
• Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives.

Patient Experience & Access

• Drive improvement in patient experience and satisfaction metrics.
• Develop strategies to enhance access to care and improve care coordination.
• Ensure patients and families experience compassionate, high-quality care across all settings.
• Partner with enterprise leaders to improve care delivery and service excellence.

Success Measures

Within the first 12–24 months, the HCE will be expected to demonstrate meaningful progress in the following areas:

Clinical Quality & Safety

• Improve quality and patient safety outcomes across both hospitals.
• Advance High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles throughout the organization.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Financial & Operational Performance

• Meet or exceed annual operating and financial performance targets.
• Improve operational efficiency and productivity measures.
• Successfully execute key strategic and capital initiatives.

Patient Experience

• Improve patient satisfaction and experience scores.
• Enhance access to services across the region.
• Strengthen care coordination and continuity of care.

Physician & Employee Engagement

• Improve physician and employee engagement metrics.
• Support successful physician recruitment and retention efforts.
• Develop a strong local leadership culture that reflects Presbyterian's values.

Community Engagement

• Establish strong relationships with local community stakeholders.
• Enhance Presbyterian's visibility and reputation throughout Eastern New Mexico.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen community partnerships and support population health initiatives.

Additional Job Description:

• Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field required.
• FACHE or other relevant professional certification preferred.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
• Previous hospital CEO, COO, Administrator, Associate Administrator, or equivalent senior leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading hospital operations, financial performance, quality improvement, and physician engagement initiatives.
• Experience in community hospital, rural hospital, regional health system, or multi-site healthcare environments strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to lead through influence within a matrixed health system structure.
• Experience working closely with governing boards, physicians, and community stakeholders.
