OPS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Physician Assistant

Job Summary

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Directs patients/student care to include but not limited to: performing triage functions and obtaining relevant health and medical history.
• Performs physical examinations including gynecological exams.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic lab tests.
• Administers initial treatment for emergency cases and coordinates care of students.
• Prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments.
• Provides physician referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services.
• Applies appropriate policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice.
• Collaborates with healthcare team demonstrating knowledge of specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies.
• Monitors care and suggests ways to provide continuous quality improvement.
• Assists with the development of policies and procedures.
• Adheres to and complies with HIPAA.
• If hired as an APRN: serves as a preceptor for NP/DNP students.
• If hired as a PA: serves as a preceptor for PA students.

Other Duties:

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications for OPS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse:

• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.
• Current America Heart Association BLS certification.
• Board certified in Family Health, Adult Health, or Women's Sexual Health.
• Three years of professional, full-time experience in a physician's office.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Minimum Qualifications for OPS Physician Assistant:

• Certification as a Physician Assistant in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Board certified in Family Health, Adult Health, or Women's Sexual Health.
• Three years of professional, full-time clinical experience in a physician's office.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
• Two years of professional, full-time clinical experience in a primary care setting.
• Experience in various clinical backgrounds within a college health center.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Experience with electronic health records.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statues, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
• Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Ability to operate computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.
• Ability to diffuse and respond professionally to stressful situations and difficult people.
• Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned and timely decisions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and environments.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions, and/or develop appropriate alternatives when applicable.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
