Job Summary

The position provides technical and engineering support for instrumentation and testing facilities of the Boysie Bollinger School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, particularly the school’s towing and wave tank.

The LSU New Orleans Towing and Wave Tank plays a central role as teaching and research laboratory for the maritime industries. The lab also features prominently in the recruitment of engineering students. Many tours and demonstrations are conducted for students of regional schools and visiting dignitaries alike throughout the year.

Only a few facilities like it exist in the United States. Instrumentation and associated software interfaces often have to be adapted to specific needs or need to be developed from scratch in some cases. The School plans major improvements to the towing tank in the near future. The instrumentation engineer will be integral to the specification and implementation of systems.
