ProSidian seeks a Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102) as an Engagement Team Member, generally located across the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, supporting Environmental Management Sector requirements to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. 

JOB OVERVIEW

Provide services and support as an Engineering Functional Area Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction (CO102) under Labor Category: Construction Discipline Engineer at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina.  Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102) work collaboratively as part of the ProSidian Engagement Team as Exempt personnel.  Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) of 2080 Straight Time (ST) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.) | 300 Overtime Time (OT) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.).  This is a Labor Hour Subcontract or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) position, and ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a full-time ProSidian-employed W-2 Position.  

The role(s) are located at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, with identified Work Site Address (121 Richland Ave E, Aiken, SC 29801, USA), providing Engineering functions working to provide BOA Support Services for multiple department requirement Service Areas (SA) for Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS) in Aiken, SC to support the evolving needs of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102)

• Role scope: Plan and provide technical oversight of field construction procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance of systems and components within the assigned discipline.
• Design coordination: Coordinate with design agencies for timely issuance of new designs and design changes. Resolve construction design problems with Design Engineers.
• Constructability reviews: Review design output and vendor documents. Conduct field walkdowns with design engineers. Verify constructability, procedure and code compliance, field conditions against design output, and material availability. Submit constructability comments, track comments to resolution, and support project design review meetings.
• Material takeoff and procurement: Develop and expedite bills of materials (BOM). Track material delivery progress and status. Coordinate delivery to the field. Verify received materials against ordered materials.
• Work execution plan development: Conduct walkdowns with craft supervision and support groups. Develop installation sequences and work instructions. Generate inspection and test records or coordinate with Quality Control. Identify layout and survey needs and generate requests. Prepare job-specific hazard analyses and support or lead team hazard-analysis review meetings.
• Permits and authorizations: Generate or support job-specific permits and orders as required: lockout/tagout orders, power services utilization permits, hot work, asbestos disturbance, confined space, radiological work, excavation, and hazardous waste.
• Work plan review and approval: Attend or chair execution-plan review meetings. Develop hazard-analysis and work-plan approval routing lists. Coordinate and expedite work-package approval routing. Disposition review comments. Assemble approved work execution plans. Provide plan status and updates in the SRS work control passport system.
• Field execution support: Lead craft pre-job briefings. Perform task-ready walkdowns with craft supervision. Verify installed commodity quantities. Coordinate daily field support. Expedite or order materials as required. Coordinate material testing and track shop fabrication supporting field execution. Perform field inspections and identify and coordinate resolution of installation issues.
• Quality compliance: Inspect and verify materials, equipment, and workmanship against drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Coordinate with Quality Control to confirm installation requirements are met.
• Turnover and startup: Participate in turnover activities and support startup and functional checkout of equipment and systems.
• Work plan closure: Generate design completion notices. Ensure work execution plan status accuracy. Close required permits and work execution plan documentation.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications For Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102) (CO102) Candidates:

• Required: Thorough understanding of construction engineering principles and ability to apply them to field conditions.
• Required: Working knowledge of discipline-specific codes and standards.
• Required: Previous experience generating computer-based construction work execution plans or work packages, including job-specific hazard analysis. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent are identified in the description. Asset Suite experience is preferred.
• Required: Previous experience generating job hazard analyses.
• Required: Previous experience performing material takeoffs and procurement.
• Required: Capability to obtain qualification to work in radiation and contamination areas.     

Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

• Alternative 1: Bachelor’s degree in the specified engineering discipline AND at least 5 years of practical construction field engineering experience in that discipline.
• Alternative 2: Associate’s degree in the specified engineering discipline AND 5–10 years of practical construction engineering experience in that discipline.
• Alternative 3: High school diploma AND 10+ years of practical construction engineering experience in the specified discipline.

Discipline applicability: Meet one of the three alternative education/experience pathways. Specified discipline is Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Civil, or Instruments and Controls, as determined by the requestor. This supplied specialization is Civil.

• Required: Thorough understanding of construction engineering principles and ability to apply them to field conditions.
• Required: Working knowledge of discipline-specific codes and standards.
• Required: Previous experience generating computer-based construction work execution plans or work packages, including job-specific hazard analysis. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent are identified in the description. Asset Suite experience is preferred.
• Required: Previous experience generating job hazard analyses.
• Required: Previous experience performing material takeoffs and procurement.
• Required: Capability to obtain qualification to work in radiation and contamination areas.     

CONSTRUCTION DISCIPLINE ENGINEER CIVIL

This position requires the following specific requirements:

• Familiar with National codes and standards (i.e. AISC, ACI) and possess the ability to interpret and analyze these requirements to determine equivalent means of achieving compliance when necessary.
• Experienced with excavation, shoring, rigging calculations, and development of ordinary and critical lift packages.
• Experienced with structural steel fabrication and erection
• Experienced with concrete placement
• Knowledge of SRS guides and standards for concrete placement and protective coatings would be a plus
• Capable of climbing/spending extended periods of time in the field.
• Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiation/contamination areas.

Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102) Candidates shall work to support requirements for RFP305843 RFP306186 Construction Discipline Engineer - Civil (Engineering Services) and provide BOA Support Services for multiple department requirement Service Areas (SA) for Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS) in Aiken, SC to support the evolving needs of the organization.

Skills Required

Primarily focused on Senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer – Construction initiatives and aligned with Program Support activities in the Engineering Functional Area.  

• Required: Familiarity with national codes and standards, including AISC and ACI. Ability to interpret and analyze these requirements to determine equivalent means of achieving compliance when necessary.
• Required: Experience with excavation and shoring.
• Required: Experience performing rigging calculations and developing ordinary and critical lift packages.
• Required: Experience with structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Required: Experience with concrete placement.
• Required: Computer-based work-package preparation, installation sequencing, work-instruction development, material takeoffs, procurement support, and job-specific hazard-analysis preparation.

Competencies Required

• Engineering judgment: apply construction engineering principles to actual field conditions and resolve design or installation issues.
• Constructability and code-compliance assessment: reconcile drawings, vendor documents, field conditions, procedures, and applicable standards.
• Work planning and organization: sequence installations, verify material readiness, manage approval routing, and maintain work-package status through closure.
• Safety and hazard recognition: prepare hazard analyses, coordinate permits, lead hazard reviews, and communicate controls in pre-job briefings.
• Quality and documentation accuracy: verify materials and workmanship, coordinate inspections and testing, and maintain complete work and permit records.
• Coordination and communication: collaborate with design engineers, craft supervision, support groups, procurement, Quality Control, and project teams.
• Field leadership and problem solving: lead briefings and review meetings, coordinate daily support, and track technical comments and field issues to resolution.

Ancillary Details Of The Roles

• Work schedule: Scheduled 40-hour workweek. Construction uses four 10-hour workdays per week.
• Standard hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Alternate schedules may be employed.
• Holidays: Workweek excludes SRS holidays.
• Field conditions: Must be capable of climbing and spending extended periods in the field.
• Required: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
• Required: Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Required: Personal vehicles operated by the candidate must have valid registration.
• Required: Personal vehicles operated by the candidate must be insured, with proof of insurance kept in the vehicle.
