We are looking for a full-time Lumber Sales representative. Compensation: $53,000 annually + commission

Essential Functions

• Promote and sell Company products to customers, in compliance with all company pricing policies and instructions, to achieve maximum sales and gross margin rate.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and effectively and report potential claims.
• Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
• Recommend new items for stock.
• Carry out sales and merchandising programs as directed.
• Learn about customer needs and "upsell" Company products and services.
• Relay service needs of customer to appropriate Company personnel and follow-up on customer requests.
• Recommend changes to the customer as relates to standardization of products.
• Participate in training sessions, trade shows and sales meetings as requested. Assist in training of new Sales Representatives as directed.
• Respond to customer requests, explain merchandise features.  
• Provides samples, brochures and other point-of-sale information to customers.  
• Accurately completes all paperwork for sales, special orders and requests. 
• Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.  
• Maintains communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.  
• Greets and interacts with customers.  
• Collects payment using established workflows.  

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience

• Minimum Education (or substitute experience required):
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least three years of related experience required.    
• On-the-job training provided.  

Minimum experience required:

• Two to four years' industry-specific experience.
• One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Skills required:

• Broad knowledge of product line; proven ability to work independently to achieve goals; negotiating skills along with ability to sell and be persuasive; broad knowledge of business administration, sales and marketing; professional appearance and demeanor.  
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  
• Knowledge of building materials products.
• Ability to operate computer equipment and applicable programs is required.  
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.  
• Excellent sales and negotiation skills.  
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.  
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
